I personally don't have a use for TB3 and while a USB C charger might be nice, it's still a non-issue for me. When plugged in the CPU allows quite a high power draw which results in thermal throttling but I expected as much in this kind of form factor. The speakers are quite subpar as you already mentioned, but they are definitely serviceable if you use the included Nahimic software.ДЇans are mostly quiet, and performance is excellent. It's probably mostly because I'm used to 165 Hz but it's noteworthy, especially since someone else mentioned it as well. I don't really like gaming on it, even hitting above 60 FPS it feels quite sluggish. I have the PS63 and while I love it there are a few gripes with it. I'm more worried about any manufacturer warranties since it looks like Microsoft is selling the remaining stock, even with the ban lifted. Other than the weaker graphics card with the MBXP, I'm seeing issues of loud fans, and trackpad rattling to name two. I've never had a laptop before so I'm not sure how much of an issue it would be for me, even when I'm just watching movies or shows on it. The only gripes I'm finding on the MSI PS63 are the barrel charger, USB-C without Thunderbolt 3, downward facing speakers. I was planning to spend at most around $2000 CAD (I originally planned on spending ~$1500 CAD at first but I want this to last with its specs and build quality). I do plan to get the performance guard for either purchase though. They're both similarly priced at ~$2000 CAD, which I can get a student discount to bring them to about $1750. I plan to buy it at the Microsoft.ca store. Preferably I'd want one with the better build quality and just longevity. I'm looking at these two (Ideapad S940 as a backburner unless there's a huge sale). Was wondering which you'd likely recommend?
